Police Pursuit

LOGAN COUNTY, Ky. – One man is charged with fleeing police in a vehicle in Logan County.

According to the Logan County Sheriff’s Office, around 1:47 a.m. Tuesday, deputies initiated a traffic stop at South Sixth Street and Spring Street for expired registration.

Authorities say as the deputy approached the vehicle, the vehicle began to flee southbound on West Sixth Street at 60 miles per hour toward Bethel Street.

The vehicle continued toward Nashville Street before turning onto Orndorff Mill Road, authorities say.

The vehicle eventually reached the bypass, where authorities say they deployed spike strips.

Deputies say the driver-side tires struck the spikes and went flat.

Despite this, authorities say the driver continued traveling in the wrong lane of travel and turned onto Clarksville Road.

Deputies say they entered Todd County while pursuing the vehicle just after 2 a.m.

Authorities say Todd County law enforcement tried to set up spike strips, however, the vehicle evaded them by driving off of the road.

The vehicle then proceeded south on U.S. 79 where it finally stopped at the intersection of 79 south and Old Railroad Lane due to being disabled.

Once the vehicle stopped, authorities say the driver exited and surrendered without further incident.

The driver was identified as 45-year-old Daniel Doss of Russellville. Authorities say Doss has multiple warrants out of Logan County and Tennessee for fleeing and evading charges, in addition to drug offenses.

Doss was transported to The Medical Center at Russellville for medical clearance and will be lodged at the Logan County Detention Center.

Doss is charged with no registration plates, first-degree fleeing or evading police (motor vehicle), first-degree wanton endangerment of a police officer, disregarding a traffic control device – traffic light, tampering with physical evidence, first-degree possession of a controlled substance, third offense (methamphetamine), possession of marijuana, reckless driving and failure of non-owner operator to maintain required insurance/security, first offense.
