Wanted federal fugitive arrested in Ohio County

HARTFORD, Ky. – A federal fugitive was captured in Ohio County on Monday.

The Ohio County Sheriff’s Office says it received a suspicious vehicle complaint in the Fordsville community at around 3 pm.

Jackie Joe Whittley, of Evansville, Indiana, was at the scene.

Deputies say they located a large bag that contained three handguns and a large amount of ammunition. A firearm located in the bag was confirmed stolen from Evansville, Indiana.

During the investigation, deputies confirmed that Whittley had a federal warrant from the U.S. Marshalls Service.

Whittley was arrested and is charged with public intoxication (controlled substance/excludes alcohol), first-degree possession of a controlled substance (first offense, drug unspecified, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, and receiving stolen property (firearm).

Whittley is lodged at the Ohio County Detention Center.
