Wanted Bowling Green man arrested after leading Logan County law enforcement on chase

RUSSELLVILLE, Ky. – A Warren County man allegedly fled police in Logan County on Wednesday.
The Warren County Sheriff’s Office says it contacted the Logan County Sheriff’s Office regarding a SUV driven by 50-year-old Elmo Stewart of Bowling Green that was located by Flock cameras in Springfield, Tennessee.
Stewart was wanted on second-degree assault and theft by unlawful taking of an automobile.
According to a uniform citation, the SUV was traveling northbound on Highway 431 and was located by Flock cameras traveling in Adairville.
The SUV was then seen traveling near Brea Church Road by a deputy.
Deputies say they observed the SUV accelerate and pass other vehicles. Authorities say a traffic stop was initiated, and the SUV continued at a high rate of speed.
Adairville police chief Aaron Ashby deployed spike strips at Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
Authorities say Stewart drove over the spike strips and the SUV exited the roadway at the intersection of Highway 431 and Highway 68/80.
Stewart allegedly exited the vehicle and ran from law enforcement. He was tased and taken into custody after an alleged struggle.
Stewart is charged with reckless driving, driving too fast for traffic conditions, first-degree fleeing or evading police (motor vehicle), first-degree wanton endangerment (police officer), second-degree fleeing or evading police (on foot), and resisting arrest.
Stewart remains at the Logan County Jail.
