Wanted Barren County man captured, man charged with hindering apprehension

EDMONSON COUNTY, Ky. – A wanted Barren County man is behind bars after authorities say he escaped an arrest earlier this week.
According to a uniform citation, the Barren County Sheriff’s Office responded Tuesday to arrest 37-year-old Cody Scott of Park City on an indictment warrant.
Deputies say after finding Scott at his home in Park City, they handcuffed Scott and stated he was under arrest.
Authorities say while attempting to detain a female subject on scene, Scott fled the scene. Deputies say they later received a tip that Scott was located at a residence in Edmonson County.
At that residence, authorities say they spoke to 53-year-old Michael Vance, who stated he had “not seen Cody in months” and that Scott was not at the residence.
Upon speaking further to Vance, deputies say Cody walked up and was taken into custody.
Authorities say Scott stated Vance had removed his handcuffs for him, and Vance stated he had thrown them into a pond.
Vance additionally stated that when Scott showed up stating he was running from the police, he allowed Scott to hide in his home.
Scott remains at the Barren County Detention Center on charges of second-degree escape, third-degree fleeing or evading police and theft by unlawful taking or disposition all others. Scott has additionally been served an indictment warrant.
Vance remains at the Hart County Jail on charges of second-degree hindering prosecution or apprehension, second-degree criminal mischief, second-degree escape, receiving stolen property and criminal littering.
