Walmarts create Santa’s Holiday Shop at Moss Middle for tornado victims

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – Hundreds of families thought they’d never have presents under the tree after last week’s tornado.

But this week showed a rewritten outcome.

Walmart, Warren County Public Library and a few other’s on Santa’s nice list transformed Henry F. Moss Middle School’s gymnasium into a pop-up Walmart Monday and Tuesday. Every single item was free of charge.

“The kids are ecstatic,” shared Morgantown Road Walmart Manager Sam Scharbrough. “There’s been a lot of families come through. It’s been great for the community.”

Monday morning at 7:00 a.m. this gym floor was empty. Within hours, families got to picked from almost $100,000 worth of new toys, blankets, clothes.

Community Outreach Manager & Warren County Public Library’s Courtney Stevens said, “The Walmarts in our community, they are phenomenal. I cannot go on and on about the integrity, and the heart and the generosity that they have put in this event enough.”

How was all this possible? Well, some say its a Christmas miracle.

One young boy explained, “[Santa] got his sleigh and the reindeers and put all of this stuff in here so people could have a happy Christmas Eve.”
