Walk to End Alzheimer’s Saturday at Bowling Green Ballpark
BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – Saturday, September 11th, South Central Kentucky’s annual Walk to End Alzheimer’s begins at Bowling Green Ballpark.
The walk begins at 9:00 a.m. at the Bowling Green Ballpark. For those who don’t feel comfortable coming in person, the Alzheimer’s Association also offers a Walk From Home option.
As of right now, they’ve raised close to $53,000. This puts them little over halfway toward their $100,000 goal.
The money raised at this event will go toward programs and services as well as research to find the cure for Alzheimer’s.
The Alzheimer’s Association asks that people register prior to coming through their website or Facebook page.
Event manager Brittany Bennett said walking is incredibly important because the disease affects so many people.
“You’ll blink, and it’s somebody in your family. I’ve worked in the healthcare setting for many years as a professional caregiver, and the toll that it takes on people, and their families that are caregiving for them and the healthcare workers that also care for them- you see the toll that it takes,” said Bennett. “It’s one of those things that there’s no cure for it right now, and we have to work and give it everything we’ve got just to make sure that one day there is a cure, and there is a survivor of Alzheimer’s.”
The Alzheimer’s Association said they are doing everything they can to make the walk safe by following Covid-19 protocols, so they ask participants to please come vaccinated or wearing a mask.
