VSA of Kentucky celebrates Developmental Disabilities Awareness Month

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – VSA of Kentucky is a local nonprofit that gives people living with disabilities opportunities to express themselves through art.

The month of March is a time to bring awareness to individuals with developmental disabilities.

VSA of Kentucky offers several inclusive arts and education programs for children, youth and adults with disabilities, including the student traveling exhibit that visits libraries and schools with work done by those with disabilities.

There’s also the Side by Side Exhibit at the Kentucky Museum featuring collaborative work by those with and without disabilities.

The side by side program is even inspiring a participant with disabilities to apply for a teaching artist position at VSA of Kentucky.

The Director of VSA of Kentucky, Delaire Rowe, said this further proves the power of the arts.

VSA of Kentucky will also be in attendance at the Special Needs Expo this Saturday.

Pieces of artwork done by individuals with disabilities will be on display.

They will also share the programs and resources they offer to the community.
