Vigil held for Franklin Simpson students involved in car accident
RUSSELLVILLE, Ky. – Two students from Franklin Simpson High School who are recovering from a crash over the weekend are receiving the love of their community tonight.
Families from Simpson, Logan and Warren Counties all came together in Russellville Monday night to pray for the recovery of Mason Davis and Demont Leggs.
Mason is the son of Bowling Green police officer Matt Davis. Officer Davis was shot and injured in the line of duty last year.
The organizer of this vigil is a close friend of Officer Davis and explains why she decided to host this vigil.
“They have quite a few friends here because they’re from here and we’re all connected and we’re all very close, even though we may not see each other very often, we’re all still connected, going to high school together. I just wanted to bring the community together and let them know how much we still love them and care for them,” Sonja Dwyer says.
During the vigil, it was revealed that Mason is recovering well. In fact, he was able to move his extremities as of Sunday night. However, Demont is still in critical condition.
