Vicki Fitch receives top honor in tourism industry

After a 27-year career in tourism, Bowling Green Area Convention and Visitors Bureau executive director Vickie Fitch, who retires Nov. 30, received the highest award her industry offers.

Fitch received the Mangeot-Oaken Distinguished Service Award at the 2018 Kentucky Travel Industry Annual Conference.

During her career, she served for 14 years as marketing director before starting her tenure as executive director.

Several of her peers in Kentucky tourism, including Sherry Murphy, nominated Fitch for the recognition.

Murphy started as the new executive director of the Bowling Green Area CVB on Nov. 12.

The Bowling Green Area CVB also received five Traverse Awards for excellence in Tourism Marketing.

The CVB received a Silver Award for its Vette Adventure Press Trip for PR Campaign.
