Vets ‘N Vettes draws crowd despite rain

BOWLING GREEN, Ky.-The National Corvette Museum and NCM Motorsports Park are hosting their 11th annual Vets ‘N Vettes event.

It’s a special recognition day for veterans and wounded warriors who are invited to take complimentary rides around the track in Corvettes.

Despite the wet weather on Thursday, a crowd of vets were lining up for their free ride in america’s favorite sports car, at reduced speeds for safety.

It’s an event that the museum does every year to honor the nation’s heroes.

“The majority of our drivers who are actually taking veterans out on our track today are veterans themselves. It’s a great comradery event as we get excited for Veteran’s Day next week,” said Mariah Hughes, Media & Communications Director, National Corvette Museum.

One of the drivers at Vets ‘N Vettes said it’s his fifth year participating in the event,”It’s important to me because those guys go over and do really fascinating things. They’re put in an extraordinary situation and they always rise to the challenge,” said Adam Ellison.

The free rides were offered from 10a.m. – 3p.m. on Thursday, and a complimentary lunch was also being provided.
