Veterans town hall in Barren County helps those affected by PACT Act

GLASGOW, Ky. – At Barren County High School, a group of veterans affairs related organizations gathered to help veterans in the community learn more about what they need to know.

The town hall featured organizations for different groups of veterans, like women or those who are homeless.

It was hosted by the VA Tennessee Valley Healthcare System, which serves southern Kentucky, middle Tennessee & northern Georgia.

One presenter, who is a veteran himself, says the main goal of these town halls is to meet veterans where they are. After being affected himself, he wants to make sure every veterans gets the proper benefits.

“I was affected by the PACT Act… burn pits, toxic exposure in Iraq 20 years ago. So it’s my goal to help connect veterans with PACT Act resources as well as all the other resources that we have to offer at the VA,” Joshua Cox, a PACT Act public affairs specialist with the VA Tennessee Valley Healthcare System, says.

Cox also adds the plan is to continue hosting town halls throughout their service area.
