Veterans Alliance Center hosts chili fundraiser

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – The Kentucky Veterans Brigade held its monthly fundraiser at the Veterans Alliance Center, hosting a chili lunch for the community on Monday.

The menu included chili, chili dogs and even chili in a bag for anyone looking for a warm meal. All of the proceeds from the event support veterans.

This is just one of the monthly events or fundraisers the Veterans Brigade puts on, with all of the money going to help maintain the store and help any veterans in need.

On average, the Veterans Alliance Center helps close to 1,000 veterans with food or any other basic needs each month.

“On a monthly average, we have around somewhere between probably 800 to 900 every month that comes through here,” said Tom Bridges, president of the Kentucky Veterans Brigade.

Bridges also added that the group hands out between 100 to 110 food boxes each month, containing around 36 pounds of non-perishable food.

As the holidays approach, the Kentucky Veterans Brigade and the Veterans Alliance Center will hold more fundraisers and events.
