UPDATE: Missing juvenile in Cub Run found dead

CUB RUN, Ky. – A child reported missing out of Hart County on Tuesday has been found dead.

On Tuesday, July 15 around 8 a.m., the Kentucky State Police says 5-year-old Silas Shearer was last seen walking away from his home in Cub Run. Soon after, KSP issued an Immediate Alert Notification, or IAN Alert.

KSP Post 3 public affairs officer trooper Katan Parker says, “Troopers went on scene immediately. I mean, they went in route immediately. And when they got on scene, all of our efforts were exhausted trying to locate this child. And tragically, the child was found deceased. At the moment, our main focus is trying to be there with the family through this time of grief and support them the best we can.”

Shortly after 9 a.m., KSP confirmed Shearer was located dead.

Further details have not been released at this time.

An Ian Alert is a statewide network designed to help find missing children with special needs, particularly those with autism spectrum disorder, who are prone to wandering.

News 40 will provide further details as they are released.
