UPDATE: KSP conducting murder investigation in Hart County

MAGNOLIA, Ky. – Kentucky State Police has released further details regarding a shooting death in Hart County.

On Friday, July 29 shortly before 6 p.m., KSP Post 3 was requested by the Hart County Sheriff’s Office to conduct a death investigation in the Magnolia community, according to a release by KSP. Authorities stated Hart County deputies responded to 10070 Hammonsville Road, where they located a dead male in a yard near the residence.

KSP uniformed troopers and detectives responded to the scene, according to KSP. The release further stated a preliminary investigation revealed Robert W. Myers, 78, confronted three white male suspects actively taking items from a residence Myers owned. KSP stated this confrontation led to Myers receiving multiple gunshot wounds, which contributed to his death.

Myers was pronounced dead on scene by the Hart County Coroner’s Office, according to authorities.

KSP stated three white male suspects were observed leaving the scene in a U-Haul truck traveling north on KY-357 in Hart County.

KSP is asking that anyone with any information or leads concerning the death of Myers to contact Detective Courtney Milam with KSP Post 3 by calling 270-782-2010.

The investigation is ongoing. No further details have been released at this time.
