UPDATE: Hightower speaks about damaged cruiser, speeding in Bowling Green

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – The Warren County Sheriff’s Office offered some insight into Friday night’s car damages downtown.

According to police, reports were received of cars racing on College Street June 3, which led to numerous parked cars being struck at the sheriff’s office. Two damaged vehicles belonged to WCSO employees while another damaged car was a brand new 2022 cruiser.

The new sheriff’s cruiser had less than 1,000 miles on it and, with supply chain issues, it is a long wait to get a new vehicle in. The damaged vehicle is now out of service.

In addition, the insurance company will examine it, but it is expected to be a total loss. One of the front wheels was almost taken off.

“You know you can replace vehicles, but that time of night, it was a beautiful night, a lot of people out walking the streets, walking along crosswalks, and the high rate of speed that vehicle was observed operating at is really a danger,” said Warren County Sheriff Brett Hightower.

Hightower said with the growth in Warren County, speeding is a problem. People need to realize that this causes danger.
