FRANKLIN, Ky. – Authorities have released further details surrounding a fatal collision between two tractor trailers on Interstate 65 south early Wednesday morning.

Around 2 a.m., the Kentucky State Police says it responded to the scene at the 9.8 mile marker.

Troopers say a preliminary investigation shows a red tractor trailer driven by Marlin Martin, 34, of Bowling Green was traveling southbound on I-65 when it was rear ended by a silver tractor trailer driven by Roger Lee Hook, 77, of Wilmington, Ohio.

The collision caused the silver tractor trailer to catch on fire, according to authorities. The Franklin-Simpson Fire Department put out the fire.

Hook was pronounced dead at the scene by the Simpson County Coroner’s Office.

The investigation is ongoing.
