UPDATE: Former officer involved in Breonna Taylor case sentenced

(CNN) – A federal judge has sentenced a former police officer convicted in the Breonna Taylor raid to 33 months in prison.

Brett Hankison was found guilty last year of violating Taylor’s civil rights during a “no-knock” police raid in 2020 that led to her death.

Hankison fired several shots through Taylor’s bedroom window during the raid of her Louisville home.

The United States Department of Justice argued that Hankison did not shoot Taylor and is not responsible for her death.

Federal prosecutors had asked that Hankison receive only a one-day sentence.
