FRANKFORT, Ky. – Gov. Andy Beshear has provided an update regarding last month’s floods and weather conditions in Kentucky.

According to the governor on Monday, another weather-related death has been confirmed, bringing the death toll to 24. Beshear says a Floyd County man died in relation to the floods.

This follows historic flooding in multiple counties of Kentucky in mid-February, along with winter weather conditions that hit soon after the floods.

Beshear also shared that Estill, Simpson and Johnson counties have been added to a list of those approved for individual and public assistance. In addition, he stated federal assistance for debris removal is now active for Knott, Martin, Perry and Pike counties.

The governor says public assistance is approved for 10 other counties, which include Ballard, Barren, Butler, Green, Hart, Marshall, Metcalfe, Rockcastle, Spencer and Wayne.

You may apply for the above assistance at DisasterAssistance.gov or call 800-621-3362.
