United Way of Southern Kentucky preparing to Feed the Need
BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – United Way of Southern Kentucky’s annual Feed the Need food drive returns this weekend, so be on the lookout for volunteers at your local grocery stores.
When you drop by a Kroger, IGA or Save a Lot, you can pick up a list from a volunteer that contains items that are desperately needed by local food pantries in the area.
Staff with United Way say in the past 15 years, they’ve gathered over a million items to help feed the hungry in our region, and they look to add to that number this year.
“The Feed the Need helps local food pantries stock up for at least the next few months, depending on how much… how many items we can gather. It’s just very beneficial to those in the community in need that just need to go to a food pantry, and this is a great way for us to stock those food pantries,” Erin Caudill, Community Engagement Manager for United Way of Southern Kentucky, says.
You can help donate Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at grocery stores in seven counties in southern Kentucky, including Allen, Barren, Logan and Warren.
