United Way helps Bridge the Gap for victims of the December 2021 tornadoes
BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – United Way of Southern Kentucky is helping out victims of the 2021 tornadoes by Bridging the Gap.
A group of local businesses, and even one from Southern Indiana, pitched in to raise nearly $1 million to help victims of the tornadoes recover costs that were not covered by their insurance.
This funding will go towards 22 families in the Bowling Green community who lost their homes among other items.
Houchens Insurance Group was one of the businesses who contributed to the fund, and they were excited to help give these families some relief.
“We all gather together because we do care about our community, that’s what it all came down to. Unfortunately, it takes a catastrophic event sometimes to bring that stuff to a head. But to see everyone come and coordinate, that’s the local government, even our chamber involved in that whole process… United Way, what they stepped up and did from the administration of it,” CEO Andy Barker says.
