Unemployment claim website undergoes cyberattack

On Wednesday night, the Kentucky Career Center’s state unemployment claim website underwent an attempted cyberattack. 

The cyberattack used random names to attempt to overwhelm the site, but none of the login attempts were successful. no information was compromised. 

People can use the website to file new unemployment claims, check on the status of existing claims, view payment history and update profile information. 

The Kentucky Career Center posted the news to their social media about the incident and people were outraged and upset about the security issue. 

The Kentucky Career Center released this statement. 

“The Kentucky Office of Homeland Security is working with the Labor Cabinet, OUI and Commonwealth Office of Technology to respond to the cyberattack…Unemployment office staff continued to assist claimants while access to the site was limited externally.”
