Umpire battling cancer throws out first pitch at Hot Rods

BOWLING GREEN, Ky.-To know him is to love him. Long-time umpire Will Ross was honored at the Hot Rods game on Saturday night.

Ross is an umpire for the Bowling Green East Little League. He was diagnosed with small cell carcinoma this summer which is an aggressive form of lung cancer.

The community has been rallying around him since his diagnosis and Saturday was no different. Ross threw out the first pitch and was honored as a Hot Rods Hometown Hero.

“It’s just a blessing to do something like this man, in my lifetime this is a blessing and I really want to thank everyone in the community for pushing and allowing me to do this. I just can’t thank everyone enough,” said Ross.

BG East Little League has started a GoFundMe for Ross here.
