UAW members to get additional strike pay
BOWLING GREEN, Ky.- Striking UAW workers in Bowling Green and around the country will see their strike pay increase, but not by much.
On Sunday, the Vice President of the UAW released a video statement.
In it, Terry Dittes thanked the membership for their solidarity, and said he knows how hard this strike has been.
Dittes also said the union was increasing strike pay $25 to $275 a week, and union members could work part time, if they keep up their picketing duties.
Meanwhile, in Bowling Green on Monday, workers were still waiting to hear about a potential resolution with General Motors.
“I’m afraid if we don’t hear good news today or some type of news, this could last another couple weeks,” said Brian Ferrett, a UAW striker in Bowling Green.
The Union is waiting to hear from General Motors about its latest counter proposal.
It wasn’t clear when or if GM will respond to the offer.
