U.S. Census Bureau offering classroom resources
GLASGOW Ky.-The United States Census Bureau is offering resources to local educators teaching statistics.
The official Census Bureau website is offering teachers resources and class activity ideas on how to implement numbers and data in grades k through 12.
For example, students can participate in lessons that relate to researching data, creating visuals for statistics, and understanding the impact of data in their state.
Each activity has a suggested grade level. Teachers are saying the study of stats is important in everyday life.
“Statistics is a vital part of the educational curriculum all the way through everyday life, being able to work with the voting polls, and being able to read that basic data,” said North Jackson Elementary 6th grade teacher Jackie Weygandt.
Each lesson and activity gives the option to download teacher and students versions. It also lists the materials needed for the lesson.
