Two Warren Central High School students shape their future through STLP program
BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – Two Warren Central High School students are currently working on a certification to help repair Chromebooks for the Warren County Public School district and it’s helping shape their future at the same time.
Students have access to what’s called the STLP program, which helps them repair technology around the school, like the Chromebooks they use on a daily basis.
Two tenth graders were in the school’s library Wednesday working on some Chromebooks, which is just one of many projects they work on as part of the Student Technology Leadership Program.
“That really encompasses not just STLP, but being able to have the ability to fix the technology here at school and I really like this subject, and what I do because it helps other people while I also get to fulfill what I like to do,” Khup Va says.
For another student who is newer to the program this year, says she wants to learn as much as possible.
“I have many different skills. I can play the violin, I can play many instruments. I also play sports as well, so having technology under my wing and having this skill is beneficial for me and I like it, I love it,” Wendy Thwin says.
Both students are using this program to shape their futures, whether it’s in mechanical engineering or becoming a physician’s assistant.
“Some of the stuff I’m doing here, it’ll help me express more creativity. That’s a big thing in making new breakthroughs in technology. After I fix all these Chromebooks, I get a sense of accomplishment,” Va says.
“It’s very rewarding, especially since, I am first generation, my parents are immigrants, and so having this opportunity is so meaningful because I do want to also bring this skill back to my country and be able to help them,” Thwin says.
