Mother and child die in Edmonson County house fire
BROWNSVILLE, Ky. – Two people died in a early morning house fire in Edmonson County Friday morning.
Tiffany Mooneyhan, 33, of Brownsville and her 6-year-old daughter, Ayreana L. Mooneyhan were found dead inside the home, according to a release from Kentucky State Police.
“Her mother told me if her car was there, she was there. So, we assumed that we were looking for a subject in the rubble and about 2:10 this morning, my fireman found the remains,” said Bear Creek Fire Chief JT Carroll.
Due to the fire deaths, Kentucky State Police were called to the scene at 1425 E. Heck Road to investigate at 2:18 a.m., KSP Trooper Daniel Priddy said.
“They have to respond to people in their community, to people that they know. But they have to put that aside and do what they can to help,” said Trooper Daniel Priddy, Kentucky State Police.
“It is going to hurt. It is going to take time to get over it. It is not the first time that we lost somebody that we knew. I say, if you stay in this service long enough, you will respond to stuff that will never be forgotten,” said Carroll.
No foul play is suspected in the fire, Priddy said.
Arson investigator Terry Scott is leading the investigation into the fire.
“The little girl, she always had a smile on her face. Tiffany did too,” said Carroll.
A dog and a bearded dragon were at the home at the time of the fire as well.
