Two brothers arrested in Aug. 5 shooting

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – U.S. Marshals arrested two people in North Carolina suspected of involvement in an Aug. 5 shooting here.

On Aug. 5 Bowling Green police were called to shots fires in the area of 12th and Clay Streets. As officers were responding, they learned of a shooting victim who was attempting to drive himself to the hospital.

Santos Pocasangre, 42, of Bowling Green, was located near the intersection of Louisville Road and Riverview with a gunshot wound to his face. Pocasangre was taken by ambulance to a hospital then flown to a trauma center in Nashville where he was treated.

Detectives determined Pedro and Louis Torres were suspects in the shooting and began searching for the two men, according to a release from the Bowling Green Police Department. U.S. Marhsals found the Torres brothers Monday in Mt. Airy, N.C. and took them into custody.

Both men are charged with first-degree assault and lodged in the Surry County (N.C.) Jail, pending extradition. The case remains under investigation.
