Two Barren County high schoolers sign letters of intent with Morehead State University

GLASGOW, Ky.- Two student-athletes from Barren County High School are taking their talents to the Division I level.

Dozens gathered at the school to celebrate Brianna Smith and Diana Peden, two national champion cheerleaders who officially signed with Morehead State University and its nationally recognized cheer program.

The duo helped lead Barren County to multiple successful seasons during their high school careers.

Mark Coleman, head cheerleading coach at Morehead State, said he believes their work ethic in the classroom and on the mat will translate well to the collegiate level.

“We’re excited for the next chapter,” Coleman said. “At Morehead State, we have an incredible tradition. I believe how you do anything is how you do everything. They’re doing great in school, they’re well-rounded student-athletes, and we expect them to do the same here.”

Coleman added that their academic success gives him confidence they will continue achieving at the next level.
