Two arrested following welfare check in business parking lot

CAVE CITY, Ky. – Police in Cave City arrested two people Wednesday after an employee of Five Star on Doyle Avenue requested a welfare check on a vehicle in their parking lot for multiple hours.
An officer with the Cave City Police checked on the vehicle and made contact with a woman, identified as Michelle Brewer and a man, identified as Scott Lemons. Lemons was confirmed to have an active warrant for his arrest, according to a release from the Cave City Police Department. Brewer gave verbal consent to search the vehicle.
The officer said he located suspected methamphetamine, suspected marijuana, suspected Gabapentin and multiple items considered to be drug paraphernalia, according to the release.
Brewer was charged with first-degree possession of a controlled substance first offense and possession of drug paraphernalia, according to the release
Lemons was placed under arrest on the active warrant and charged with first-degree possession of a controlled substance first offense, possession of marijuana, third-degree possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia, according to the release.
Both Brewer and Lemons were lodged in the Barren County Detention Center.
