Two arrested after reported stolen vehicle pursuit in Hopkinsville

HOPKINSVILLE, Ky. (WKDZ) – Two people are facing charges after a reported pursuit involving a stolen vehicle in Christian County on Monday.

According to a report by WKDZ Radio, Hopkinsville police say they tried to stop a vehicle on West Ninth Street that had been reported stolen. However, WKDZ reports the driver, identified as 21-year-old Corey Johnson of Hopkinsville, fled the scene.

WKDZ says police stated Johnson crossed into the opposite lane while fleeing.

The pursuit ended on Fort Campbell Boulevard when a deputy used a precision immobilization technique, according to WKDZ.

Johnson and a passenger, identified as 21-year-old Brenda Oliver of Lawrenceville, Georgia, were taken into custody.

Both are charged with receiving stolen property.

In addition, Johnson is also charged with speeding 26 miles per hour or greater over the speed limit, failure to or improper signal, first-degree fleeing or evading police (motor vehicle), operating on a suspended or revoked license, first-degree criminal mischief, first-degree wanton endangerment of a police officer and possession of marijuana.

Both remain at the Christian County Detention Center.
