UPDATE: Turkey Neck Bend Ferry set to reopen

UPDATE (6/25/24) – The Turkey Neck Bend Ferry (KY 214) is set to reopen following an inspection by the U.S. Coast Guard.
Kentucky Transportation Cabinet District 3 announced the ferry will reopen Wednesday at approximately noon.
The ferry was originally expected to resume operation on Tuesday.
BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – A ferry will be closed for several weeks.
The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet District 3 announced the closure of the Turkey Neck Bend Ferry on KY 214 at the Cumberland River in Monroe County on Monday.
The ferry will be taken out of operation for a five-year inspection.
The ferry is expected to close Friday, June 14 at Noon and reopen on Tuesday, June 25 at 6am.
The inspection is required annually every five years. The inspection is conducted by the U.S. Coast Guard. The barge is removed from the water, pressure washed, sandblasted and inspected.
A detour utilizing KY 100, KY 90 and KY 61 will be in place.
Officials say motorists should plan as the detours will add to travel time. Message boards will be in place to inform motorists.
