Trump downplays threat of war with Iran
(NBC News) Amidst rising tensions with Iran, President Trump said Thursday that he hopes the U.S. is not heading to war with the rogue nation.
According to some U.S. officials, the president also believes National Security Adviser John Bolton has been too hawkish on the issue. Publicly, though, Mr. Trump is dismissing reports that his advisors are pushing him to conflict.
Meanwhile, lawmakers are expressing their frustration over a lack of information when it comes to the situation with Iran. A briefing on the subject for all senators has been scheduled for Tuesday. The House will be briefed later next week.
