Truck strikes buggy, 1 airlifted in Caneyville crash
CANEYVILLE, Ky. – A crash involving a truck and buggy resulted in major injuries of two men.
According to a report by WNKY News 40 partner K105, the Grayson County Sheriff’s Office, Caneyville Fire Department and EMS responded to an accident in the 15000 block of Beaver Dam Road (Highway 62) on Monday morning.
Through an investigation at the scene, first responders say the driver of a truck was blinded by the sun as the truck operated over a hill and struck the rear end of an eastbound Amish buggy being pulled by two horses.
Four men were in the buggy. Two of the men sustained major injuries in the crash. One of the men was airlifted to University of Louisville Hospital and the other was transported by EMS to Owensboro Health Twin Lakes Medical Center.
First responders say a third man was treated at the scene. The man refused transport for further treatment.
The driver of the truck sustained no injuries.
A horse sustained injuries in the crash. The current condition of the horse is unknown.
