Trooper laid to rest by law enforcement and community in Warren County
BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – Trooper Jonathan Christopher “JJ” Johnson was laid to rest on Tuesday, May 7.
Many members of law enforcement and the community were in attendance. Johnson was a member of the Kentucky State Police, Post 2.
Johnson was killed in a motorcycle crash earlier last week in Warren County while off duty.
News 40 took a closer look at his legacy and those that are honoring him today.
Authorities say Johnson was a nine-year veteran of the agency, assigned to Muhlenberg County. He graduated from Cadet Class 92 and served at both the Madisonville and Bowling Green posts during his tenure with the agency. He received the post-level Detective of the Year honor in 2019.
Not only did he serve as a trooper, he also left a legacy with those he met.
“JJ was our brother, a trusted friend, an excellent Trooper, a dedicated Detective, and Sergeant to many in his KSP family. He always had a smile and was willing to help others. His pride, commitment, and unwavering support was evident as he served KSP and the citizens of Kentucky.” – Captain Tim Adams
In a social media post, KSP trooper Katan Parker, a public affairs officer with Post 3, stated, “There was no being shy around him, he’d help you open up as if you’d always been around. Rest in peace 925!”
Johnson’s funeral services were held at Living Hope Baptist Church at 1805 Westen Street. Burial took place in Bowling Green Gardens at 820 Lovers Lane.
