Trick-or-treaters in Scottsville take part in annual Halloween Parade
SCOTTSVILLE, Ky. – While kids across south-central Kentucky are gearing up for a night of trick-or-treating, the little ones in Scottsville got a head start this morning thanks to the annual Halloween Parade.
More than 350 children made their way around the downtown square in costume, collecting candy from local businesses. The event has become a Halloween tradition and a highlight of the season for many families in the community.
The Allen County Public Library has hosted the parade for more than 30 years, giving children a chance to celebrate Halloween in a fun and safe way.
Assistant library director Amanda Woods says the event is all about celebrating Scottsville’s youngest residents.
“Kids are just a lot of our little community — our little town,” Woods said. “Just seeing them be appreciated, and giving them that time, for this to be really geared for our pre-K kids. Most of them are five and under, and this is their time during the day to get some extra attention.”
This year’s parade also gave newer businesses and families in downtown Scottsville a chance to join in the fun — continuing a tradition that’s all about community, connection, and, of course, candy.
