Treating mental health and drug abuse in the BRADD region

BOWLING GREEN, Ky.- At the Rotary Club of Bowling Green, city and county leaders gathered to discuss the BRADD anchor project that will help people who need it most.

The state is funding $20 million. The city pledges $1 million, and the county is giving $600,000 to ensure that the BRADD project services more than 10 counties are able to gain access to this resource.

Melanie Watts, director of community engagement at Life Skills, tells us her first reaction to the support from the community.

She says, “When we got the word that we were funded by the state legislators. I cried because this had been a dream from the time that I was a police officer. to have a facility that actually would be utilized for people with mental health issues We would be able to, like, literally put our arms around these people and love on them and give them what is needed.”

There will be a forum held at the justice center on July 29 from 2 to 4 p.m. This forum is open to the public and located on the fourth floor in courtroom C.
