Treasurer accused of stealing money from Simpson County softball league

FRANKLIN, Ky.- A Simpson County woman is accused of theft by unlawful taking after a local softball league reported more than $10,000 disappeared. from its bank account.

According to the Franklin Police Department, Ashley Jenkins, 35, is accused of taking $10,330 from the Jim Roberts Community Park Girls Softball League.

Jenkins was the treasurer of the league at the time of the accusation.

According to her attorney Alan Simpson, he has been working with the prosecutor’s office to ensure that the money allegedly taken be repaid in full.

The reimbursement was made several weeks ago, according to Simpson.

Jenkins is due in court on Aug. 13.
