Traffic stop leads to Madisonville drug bust with infant in back seat

HOPKINSVILLE, Ky. – Two people are behind bars after authorities say they found drugs in the back of a vehicle near an infant.
According to the Madisonville Police Department, 39-year-old Stacey Dillard of Hopkinsville and 38-year-old Destiny White of Madisonville were arrested Monday and charged with first-degree trafficking in a controlled substance, second or greater offense (methamphetamine), first-degree possession of a controlled substance (fentanyl) and and first-degree wanton endangerment.
The department states an investigation began in September in conjunction with the Madisonville-Hopkins County Vice-Narcotics Unit, the Kentucky State Police and the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration, Paducah Post of Duty.
Throughout the investigation, police say a large amount of crystal methamphetamine was seized.
On Nov. 24, police say investigators conducted a traffic stop at a gas station at 2250 Anton Road in Madisonville.
During this time, authorities say law enforcement made contact with Dillard and White, as well as an infant.
Authorities say investigators on this date seized about 1 pound of methamphetamine from the backseat, located around 18 inches from the infant.
The Department of Child Based Services was contacted to respond to the scene regarding the infant, along with two other children living with Dillard and White.
In addition, authorities say a search warrant was conducted at a residence off of the 1000 block of Brown Road in Madisonville.
Through a search, authorities say they seized a trafficking amount of methamphetamine, drug paraphernalia, a large amount of U.S. currency and powder fentanyl.
Both individuals remain at the Hopkins County Jail.
