Traffic stop leads to drug bust in Allen County

SCOTTSVILLE, Ky. – Two people are facing drug charges following a traffic stop in Allen County on Tuesday.

According to the Allen County Sheriff’s Office, deputies conducted a traffic stop on a 2013 Black Ford Escape.

Authorities say an Allen County K-9 gave a positive alert on the vehicle during an open air sniff test.

During a search, deputies say they discovered 46 grams of suspected methamphetamine, marijuana and 30 suspected Gabapentin pills, along with drug paraphernalia.

Both occupants of the vehicle, identified as James D. York, 54, of Burkesville and Elizabeth Harper, 28, of Edmonton, were arrested and transported to the Allen County Detention Center.

Harper is charged with possession of marijuana, first-degree trafficking in controlled substances, first offense (greater or equal to 2 grams of methamphetamine) and drug paraphernalia – buy/possess.

York is charged with second-degree possession of a controlled substance, drug unspecified, third-degree trafficking in a controlled substance, first offense (drug unspecified), first-degree trafficking in a controlled substance, second or greater offense (greater than for equal to 2 grams of methamphetamine) and drug paraphernalia – buy/possess.
