Traffic stop leads to arrests in Lewisburg

LEWISBURG, Ky. – Two people are facing charges after a traffic stop in Logan County on Wednesday.
According to a uniform citation by the Logan County Sheriff’s Office, around 7:39 p.m., deputies observed a 1994 Ranger pickup truck traveling southbound on Lewisburg Road.
Deputies say the driver was not wearing a seat belt.
The sheriff’s office says it conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle on Center Road.
The driver was identified as Michael Sweetsir, 35, of Auburn, while the front passenger was identified as Samantha Loder, 32, of Lewisburg.
Deputies say Sweetsir said his seat belt was broken and saw the seat belt fastened behind him with a knot in it.
Authorities say the driver advised he had his license suspended for driving under the influence. Sweetsir was detained.
Deputies say they gained verbal consent to search the vehicle and the passenger’s purse.
The sheriff’s office says inside the purse, deputies located two containers with a white crystal-like substance suspected to be methamphetamine.
Sweetsir and Loder were arrested and transported to the Logan County Detention Center.
Loder is charged with first-degree possession of a controlled substance, first offense (methamphetamine), drug paraphernalia- buy/possess and disseminating personally identifying info – death.
Sweetsir is charged with failure to wear seatbelts, driving on a DUI suspended license, second offense, and failure to notify address change to Department of Transportation.
