Toys for Tots receive 400 bikes to donate to local children
BOWING GREEN, KY.- A sweet surprise arrived in Bowling Green all the way from northern Kentucky. Toys for tots were expecting 100 bikes, but they received 400!
With help from the Warren County Regional Jail, kids from 23 counties will get a bike for Christmas.
Hill transportation volunteered to pick up the bikes — not knowing they’d be transporting four times the original number.
Janel Doyle, Toys for Tots coordinator, says, ” Most of our bikes here in Warren County will be going out on Christmas morning with the firefighters and the Marines. They deliver door-to-door to the housing authority for kids. So we’ll have a lot of bikes then. And then the other counties, I’m sure they’ll also distribute them in their own ways. But all the kids want a bike. You know, we wish we had enough to do 31,000 kids like we did last year. But these 400, we plan on going a long way.”
