Toys for Tots raised $1500 & 50 toys

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – Last weekend in Bowling Green, people from all over helped to raise money for kid’s Christmas’ with the power of motorcycling.

Last Saturday, people rode their motorcycles in from different states for the Marine Corps Reserve Toys for Tots program.

Marines, sailors and volunteers use this program to collect Christmas toys for kids in need. People who wanted to ride came to Doug’s Motor City Bar and Grill and either paid $20 for a bike or donated a toy.

Once the rain cleared up on Saturday, people rode 105 miles around town. The group raised over $1500 and 50 toys for kids in Southern Kentucky.

Bowling Green Marine Corps Paymaster Malcolm Cherry and President of the Templar Knights Cory Moyers both said that they were excited for the ride.

“We didn’t get to do it last year, so we’re doing it this year, and it looks great so far. Got a little rain, but we’re working through that,” said Cherry. “That’s no big deal. These guys come out here for Toys for Tots every year. Doug supports us. Everybody helps out. It’s going to be great.”

“We’re out here for the Toys for Tots,” said Moyers. “We were asked two years ago to lead the ride. It was a great honor for us to be able to do this.”
