Toys for Tots hosts Christmas in July kickoff

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – Toys for Tots held their Christmas in July kickoff in the Trees N Trends parking lot on Campbell Lane.

Plenty of food trucks and vendors were on hand to help celebrate the start of their season as they look to collect toys for the community.

News 40 spoke to one of the food truck owners, who has been working with Toys for Tots for years. He tells us how important this organization is for the community.

“Janel and the Toys for Tots group do a tremendous amount of work for the kids in the community and surrounding counties, and so it’s very important to kind of kick that off for them, come out, support them, get some food, get something to drink, get a snowball, bring a toy, you get a free snowball, lots of good things…beautiful weather today, so perfect,” Troy Perkins with Pelican’s SnoBalls says.

We also spoke to Janel Doyle with Toys for Tots, who told us with the state the economy is in at the moment, it’s important to make sure you start your holiday shopping a bit early.
