Toy drive held at WKU for tornado relief
BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – With Christmas just around the corner, a number of local children are spending Christmas outside of their homes following the devastating tornadoes.
So, the governor’s wife, Britainy Beshear, wanted to help.
Last week she began a toy drive at the WKU Small Business Incubator campus where hundreds of toys were collected for local kids.
The donations were accepted until Saturday and boxed up for families in need.
One man from out of town participated in the drive over the weekend.
“I was watching the news the other day and I saw a story about how these kids lost everything right before Christmas and I felt like I needed to do something so I’m from Tennessee so I got my girls that work for me and we put together a truckload of toys and brought them up for the kids,” said Fred Hutchison, a donor.
