Roadside technician flown for ‘traumatic injuries’ in I-65 collision

WARREN COUNTY, Ky. – One person is reportedly being treated for traumatic injuries following a collision early Thursday morning on Interstate 65.
According to the Warren County Fire Department System, the Alvaton Fire Department and Bowling Green Fire Department responded to a reported injury collision on I-65 near the 16-mile marker.
Upon arrival, officials say they located a roadside tire technician with traumatic injuries from the wreck. The technician is an employee of a Bowling Green business.
Fire officials say personnel quickly stabilized the scene, extricated the individual and had them flown for treatment at a medical facility.
Kentucky State Police Post 3 public affairs officer trooper Katan Parker says the incident occurred around 3 a.m. when a tractor-trailer blew a tire on the right side of the road.
Parker says roadside service vehicle was parked in front to assist when a passing tractor-trailer hit the tire the technician took off. Authorities say the tire then hit the tow truck technician.
The incident remains under investigation by the Kentucky State Police.
