Tompkinsville woman killed in wreck

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – A Tompkinsville woman was killed in a three-vehicle crash on the Cumberland Parkway Friday afternoon.
Kentucky State Police Post responded at 1:30 p.m. to the Cumberland Parkway 8 mile-marker eastbound in Barren County.
This collision resulted in the eastbound lanes shutting down.
A 2005 refrigerated box truck being operated Hiu Lin, 51, of Mason, Ohio was traveling east and approaching stopped traffic as heavy rain fell in the area, according to a release from the Kentucky State Police. Lin attempted to swerve to avoid striking stopped traffic but was unable to do so.
Lin’s vehicle struck a 2012 Chevrolet pickup being operated by Daphnie Woodrum, 40, of Stanford, according to the release. The box truck continued and struck a 2010 Kia SUV being operated by 74-year-old Ruth Crowe of Tompkinsville.
Crowe was pronounced deceased at the scene by the Barren County Coroner. Hiu Lin received minor injuries and was treated and released from T.J. Samson Community Hospital In Glasgow. Woodrum was uninjured in the collision.
The investigation is ongoing.
