GUTHRIE, Ky. – A Todd County man is behind bars after authorities say they located items consistent with drug trafficking.
According to a uniform citation, the Guthrie Police Department was patrolling Thursday just before 2 a.m. when it observed a parked truck with two occupants.
Authorities say both occupants ducked inside of the vehicle and began watching the officer.
While the officer was inside of a nearby store, police say the driver moved the vehicle to another parking space on the opposite side.
Authorities say the officer learned the vehicle’s license plate was expired and did not match the vehicle type.
The driver of the vehicle was identified as 19-year-old Sebastian Rodriguez of Elkton.
Authorities say the driver exited the vehicle and when asked what he was doing, he stated he was “waiting for a ride.” Police say Rodriguez showed several signs of being intoxicated.

During a vehicle search, police say they located a needle and aluminum foil containing a powder substance.
Police say Rodriguez stated that the items belonged to another male subject.

Authorities say the 16-year-old passenger was released to her guardian.
Rodriguez was transported to the Todd County Jail. During booking, police say they located cocaine in Rodriguez’s possession.
