Unit offers advice for families debating short-term rehab

GLASGOW, Ky. – U.S. News & World Report has named TJ Samson Community Hospital’s Skilled Nursing Unit one of the best in Kentucky.

According to the report, only 16 percent of U.S. skilled nursing facilities received the “Best Nursing Home” designation this year. The annual Best Nursing Homes ratings, now in their 13th year, help families make informed decisions about where to receive short-term nursing home care.

The article says TJ Regional’s unit stands out for its exceptional clinical care, personalized attention, and top-notch rehabilitation services.

We asked the top-notch unit what advice they have for families deciding if short-term nursing home care is the best option for a loved one.

Skilled Nursing Unit director Jim Reid said, “Honestly, I think the best thing that you all can do is have those conversations before you get to that point. ‘Are you going back home? Are you gonna go home with assistance? Are you going to go home with home health?’ I think you just need to see what all options are available to you.”
