BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – The coronavirus pandemic has had its impact on the world of live music and entertainment, hitting local music venues like Tidball’s quite hard.

Tidball’s has been recognized by the 2020 Governor’s Awards in the Arts as a recipient. This news was music to the ears of Tidball’s part owner Brian Jarvis.

“I’m still a little shocked. Of course, I’m honored as I can be. It’s one of the highest awards that a business can get in the arts,” Jarvis said.

Several arts institutes and businesses around the state got recognized, with Tidball’s being Warren County’s business award recipient. Jarvis attributes this to not just the music scene in Bowling Green, but also the arts scene in general.

Jarvis says during a year that’s brought so much negativity, 2020 has shown how much the arts and music can impact the community, and that this news came at a great time to focus on the positive that is going on in the world.

“I really don’t want to dwell on the negatives. We are honored to get this award. There is a whole ceremony coming up. At the end of the day, it is time to wake up and go to work. The pandemic is still here, so we are still trying to reinvent ways to stay relevant and keep our doors open. The battle is no where close to being over,” Jarvis said.
