Three-vehicle collision in Harlan County leaves 1 dead

HIRAM, Ky. – One person is dead following a fatal collision in Harlan County.

The Kentucky State Police responded to a three-vehicle collision on Friday afternoon with Lifeguard EMS and the Harlan County Rescue Squad, according to a release.

KSP says one driver was flown to Johnson City Medical Center for treatment of serious injuries.

The driver of the second vehicle was taken by ambulance to Harlan ARH Hospital for injury treatment.

The third driver, 45-year-old Ashley Toll of Baxter, was flown to Harlan ARH Hospital with life-threatening injuries.

Toll later died at the hospital.

Detectives responded to the scene for accident reconstruction.

The investigation is ongoing.
